NEWS:New Real Time Passenger Information System
16 August 2007

The installation of a brand new realtime passenger information system for tram stops commenced earlier this month.
In partnership with Centro PTA, Travel Midland Metro are investing £250,000 in a brand new state-ofthe-art electronic system which will be implemented in stages and is expected to be complete along the full Metro route by October 2007.
The new system replaces the existing equipment which is obsolete and has become increasingly unreliable despite the best efforts of our maintenance team. The capability of the existing system has always been somewhat limited. The new system will display the actual time, the arrival time and destination of the next two trams and the Metro control room will have the
ability to transmit scrolling text messages when there is a need. The purpose of this upgrade is to make travel simpler by providing reliable and up-to-date service information to our customers.
